What is Talk Therapy

Talk therapy
is a collaborative process between a patient and a trained mental health professional. It provides a safe, supportive and nonjudgmental space to discuss concerns, recognize patterns, strengthen coping skills and work toward personal goals.

Therapy session

Therapy
is not only for moments of crisis. It can also help people better understand themselves, manage everyday stress, navigate major life changes, improve relationships and build greater emotional resilience.

Every Patient
is different. Your therapist will work with you to understand your concerns and create an individualized treatment plan based on your needs and goals.

Concerns Therapy May Help Address

Our therapy services may support patients experiencing:

Anxiety, excessive worry or panic
Depression, sadness or loss of motivation
ADHD-related emotional or organizational challenges
Stress and feeling overwhelmed
Difficulty managing emotions
Trauma or difficult life experiences
School avoidance or academic stress
Family and relationship difficulties
Grief and loss
Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
Sleep-related concerns
Major life changes and transitions
Pregnancy, postpartum and parenting-related concerns

This list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether therapy may be appropriate for you or your child, contact our office. Our team can help you determine the next step.

Therapy for Children and Adolescents

Children and Teenagers
may not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Emotional or behavioral concerns can sometimes appear as irritability, withdrawal, declining school performance, difficulty sleeping, frequent worry, conflict at home or refusal to attend school.

Therapy can give young people a developmentally appropriate space to express themselves, understand their emotions and develop practical coping skills.

When clinically appropriate, the therapist may also collaborate with parents or caregivers while respecting the young patient’s privacy and individual treatment needs.

Our evening and after-school appointments can make it easier for families to fit therapy into school and work schedules.

Therapy for Adults

Couple Reviewing Album

Adults seek therapy for many different reasons—from anxiety, depression and relationship stress to grief, parenting pressures, career changes or simply feeling stuck.

Therapy provides dedicated time to explore what is happening, understand patterns and work toward healthier ways of thinking, feeling and coping.

Your care will be tailored to your personal concerns, circumstances and treatment goals.

Therapy and Psychiatric Care in One Practice

Some patients benefit from therapy alone. Others may benefit from therapy combined with a psychiatric evaluation or medication management.

Because 2nd Arc Psychiatry provides both psychotherapy and psychiatric services, care can be coordinated within one practice when clinically appropriate and with the patient’s permission.

A psychiatric evaluation or medication is not required to receive therapy.
